Still at Henry's

Here is a couple more:

Home now and missing it already. Spent half the day cleaning the boats and trailer. I know Henry’s is pest free and I plan on keeping it that way along with my local waters.
If weather holds out, looks like Strawberry this weekend.

Wow!!! Those are some nice fish.

What color scuds and what size are usually found in Henrys’? Thanx.

Nice photos, did you catch any brookies when you were there? The weather was good for half of your trip sounded like? Lake looks unbelievably calm in those pics. Days like that are enjoyable for sure.

man nice fish all of thoughs fish that you have posted have been grate after seeing thoughs fish that gives me a reason to go see my cusine

  1. you sure Pest Free ?- my point is how in the heck do theythink some guy isn’t going to bring some in tucked in behind the tongue of his wading boot or what ever- it’s going to happen- great on the precautionary methods- though I ? them. But you are not going to stop it if it’s coming .

  2. Get your snow shovel out for the Berry- I bet you can fish it- just going to be a bit cooler- which could be great.
Sure wish this weather coming would have come a week ago for the steelies.

Slayer…Grayish/green. Lone Wolf…No for me, yes for the Hubby and his brother, but no pictures on this end.

As far as the glass smooth water, nice for kicking and not getting blown all over and great for water-skiing, but makes catching suck.

Pack, I hear you on the cold front! It would have helped allot, and I even packed for it, but no go.
I am hoping it warms a little by Sat or Sun. but I bet it perks the fishing right up!

As far as the cleaning…I agree 100%, but think of BIRDS more than any other cause.
Next would be felt soles and GAS motors.
But every little bit helps and I can say, the waters I have been fishing are pest free as far as we know.
Just not going to sip off someone elses cup if you know what I mean.

I don’t buy into the felt soles scenario- too much scientific data out there saying that’s hype being pushed by Simms and the fly fishing industry. But that’s another thread entirely on it’s own.

hype being pushed by Simms and the fly fishing industry.!!!

Are you kidding? All the Biologists and foreign countries got to disagree with that. Look at felt soles then look at these micro pest…no doubt here.

But whatever.

I don’t think it’s hype. New Zealand outlawed felt soled boots. I doubt Simms or any one has any influence in NZ

I’m with FG…it’s a REAL THREAT, so do what you can. YES-felt soles ARE an issue-
do some research and you’ll find out for yourself.

Agree with you one hundred percent. Even if it only helped a tiny bit, its something so small that could pay huge dividends.

Sorry gentelmen and lady------------- your not doing your research- and your making comments off hand- almost everyone of those studies said neo’s were #1 and #2 was the inside of the boot behind the tongue and then 3# was felt soles. But only felt soles are being banned. You tell me whose pushing what and why . The rubber soles are being pushed as the save all- BS on that - like you said micro organisms (Didymo diatom). They can be in your shoe laces and every where else. If you think that the felt sole is the big culprit in this then you are buying into this and a lot of other things in your life. Follow the $$$$$$$ and the manufactures- you’ll find there is a lot of
hype and advertisements out there pushing for you to switch and get your $$$$$$.
I am as clean about this as anyone- I clean my toons at the car wash- I have a clorox spray I use after I clean my boots. I wash my waders which are not neo’s but they are mico organisms for Godsake. They can get in anything period. It’s great you are concerned but if the banned were to be as useful as it could be then neoprene’s would be outlawed- all boots that weren’t sealed at the top with no laces- so booties only and not neo booties- ect ect. But why are only felt soles banned and not the #1 and #2 items that fisherman wear ? Give me a reasonable scientifically backed answer to that and I’ll buy into that I have a conspiracy theory and Black heliocopters are circling my house. I’ve searched long and hard -Until then- I think everyone needs to do a bit of research rather that what came out in the latest Fly mag.

PS- if you have read these studies- and I have— New Zealands included- they all say somewhere in them- they don’t have a clue on how the organism works or breeds . They all admit this- This has to tell you something

Agreed…if they want in, they will do it.
BUT, you just stated that FELT was #3. Not Rubber, sooooo seems like a good place to start! It IS a transporter. One step at a time is better than NON but you keep upon the conspiracy theory. It’s working for you.[;)]

As far as Neoprene…I agree…haven’t used them for years :sunglasses:

You are saying it is all bunk is definitely BS and putting out the wrong word totally!

EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS!

Lastly…why are felt soles banned…BECAUSE THEY DO TRANSPORT along with other parts of the boot granted, but they do where rubber does not.

RESEARCH is good, but ACTION is better.

You stated it was number three. So… It does transport. Like FG and I have said every little bit helps. Just because Felt is number three are you not gonna switch because the number one transporter (Neoprene) is still legal? Seems pretty stupid.

And as far as this comment? “If you think that the felt sole is the big culprit in this then you are buying into this and a lot of other things in your life.”

How in the *&%# do you know what I am buying into in life?

Settle down Everett. Do you wear boot foot waders ?
Have you read all the scientific studies on this ? If you haven’t then you aren’t doing enough- . My point is- and I got your worked up - both of you- so I’m doing what I wanted- making you think just for a second out side your box. The point is-------- and don’t tell me that it’s a good start because that’s not good enough- why felt and not neo’s or the boots or wet wading and socks or a million other things. Why just this because it doesn’t take 1000 people with the invasive species on their waders to come to Henrys to get them started in the lake--------- just 1 or a few is all. And if it’s in their felt it’s also in thier boots. I’m positive that unless you are microwaving all your gear your aren’t doing anything more than I am to prevent the spread. I’m not spreading the wrong word- I’m spreading the whole word- it’s everything not just felt or a woven matte product. You are spreading bad felt- I’m spreading it’s everything and this felt issue is being pushed as the lead by economics- I don’t disagree that felt can be a carrier. By saying it’s a good starting place---- sorry once it’s there you have a problem- you can’t deal with it piece by piece. Our best bet is that mother nature can deal with it - what we can do to help is good- but we won’t be the answer to stop it.

This is not pointed at anyone in particular. I am going to lock this thread as the original thread on Henry’s has run its course.

If anyone wants to start a thread on invasive species carriers then go ahead and start a new thread.:sunglasses:

Thanks
