Fished starvation today ended up being a good day caught 10 good sized trout and well over 50 perch. Got into some good sized perch caught quite a few 10 to 11 inch perch was fishing in anywhere from 40 to 30 feet of water had to move around quite a bit to find them seemed like we would have nonstop action for an hour or so then we would have to move. The ice was really noisy today scared the crap out of the wife a couple times

Sounds like a great day! Daughter and I were down there Saturday and couldn’t get the perch to bite. Got some verrrry nice rainbows but no perch. Can I ask what area you were fishing? We fished by the bridge. Thanks!
We Also fished by the bridge. Those rainbow sure do put up a fight had two fish break me off after a good 2 to 3 min fight sure would have been nice to get a look at them to see what they where
Has anyone been catching any walleyes up there and where could I find them any help would be great taking the boys sat. I didn’t want to waste the tip going up there if it was no good … Ps: zipp sent you pm
Catching eyes through the ice is always tough, for most of us at least. It can and does happen but don’t count on it and if you catch one you will be happy[;)].

Try after dark. Tip with perch meat or some other yummy delicacy. I’ve caught them on the bridge end. I’ve gotten 'em on marabou jigs, roadrunners (yellow and orange, with an attractor blade) and chartreuse. I’d imagine they’re pretty deep right now.
They also bite fairly lightly, so use a spring bobber.
What do u guys look for when your targeting walleye threw the ice at starvation any tips or anything? Or is it more of a crap shoot when fishing for them on the ice
I’d say it’s a crap shoot, but some people claim they can target walleye through the ice.
If it gets too noisy/busy it’s supremely hard to catch walleye through the ice, I guess they’re pretty spooky.
It’s good to see Starvy finally having some good ice fishing, it’s been spotty the last few years for most people. Thanks for the report, it’s going to be a good year! (as soon as the ice comes off [;)])

**Anybody who claims to be able to catch walleyes through the ice at Starvation…whenever they want…will lie about other things too. It just does not happen. **
Plenty of walleyes there but there is also plenty of food for them…huge schools of small perch. They can feed easily at night, when the perch are dormant, and then just snooze during the day when the silly ice fishermen are playing with the perch.
Some of the smaller walleyes feed more on the same stuff the perch do…small aquatic insects around the weed beds. Most winter walleyes caught on Starvation are the smaller ones…just like during the summer. Rare to see one over about 15" come through an ice hole.
**HOWSOMEVER…if you have some large rattling spoons or crankbaits…and know how to use them…you can sometimes stir up a passing toothy critter and get them to strike. But you have to find an area where they hang out and put your lures in the right place and work them just right…all day…for maybe one or two bites. **
“Targeting walleyes” is an oxymoron…like jumbo shrimp. Most walleyes are caught by accident…by guys fishing for perch. Some will hit the same things the perch will. But if you specifically target walleyes you are likely to either blank completely or catch only perch or trout.
**Be properly grateful if you catch one. But don’t get smug and think you have them figured out. You may never catch another one. **
Thanks tubedude that’s what I kinda figured that it was mOre of an accident caughting them then trying to target them. I guys I’ll just stick to trying to figure out starvation and hopefully one day I catch one by accident haha.

Lots of whiskey and frustration that’s my favorite bait.
Methinks that one leadeth to the other.
I once heard a fishing buddy say “Walleyes drive ya to drink…but I think I’ll walk.”
Drive ya to drinking or make ya crazy I haven’t been on that pond this year maybe this weekend for a all nighter last year just a perch fest and some bows hope this year is a little better won’t know until I get there.
If you want to catch walleyes thru the ice at starvation use a red lead head with a half piece of night crawler. fish from about 3:00pm until about an hour past dark. fish humps in about 40 to 50 feet of water that has deep water around it.
you just shaired the farm… he gave you all the keys!!! we were taught by the guide who owned the the tackle shop on starvation and guided the res. they can be targetted and tapped daily by some. as td stated most will be dinks. when ron taught chuck n me he showed at 3.30 we had fished all day. he said your not on the spot. we walked to where we had fished most the day. we dropped down with what he told us to use and in 2 hrs had 17 eyes on the deck between 4 of us. keys r location. time. and pressintation. they can be caught everyday… just not by most of us.
well since my favorite lake to ice fish isnt going freeze over this year im going to dedicate this ice fishing season to strictly starvation going to try and maybe get some of the lake figured out. been there three time this year and im doing farely good i think have been caughting fish everytime ive been out. i have been trying to hit different spot on the lake hit bunny gulch one day but got tired of caughting dink perch, dont think i will be fishing that anymore. hit the bridge area twice so far and have done better for some good sized fish just been trying to stay away from the crowds. if anyone has a pointers or is wanting to show a newbie for starvation so pointers let me know maybe we can trade some info for some others lakes
I caught one at deer creek last year. Used to catch them more regularly when there was a better population of them. The hard part is finding the location. The second hard part is drilling 10 or more holes an hour before first light. The third hard part is waiting for a hour and be’n quite for that hour. Then if your lucky there is a 15 to 45 minute bite and they would spook easy. I always fished on or close to full moon or new moon. Figured if I was going to go through all that the moon should help my odds. Caught them on jig’n rapalas and northland buckshot lure with a little perch meat in 12 to 25 ft .
I did catch a little one at starvy through the ice but I was fish’n fer perch and it was almost dark.
I posted a pic of the one from last year.
Nice. [fishin][fishin]
