Starvation reports

Any one been to Starvation this weekend, would like to go there later this week.

had a friend fish it saturday. caught 10bows fished 30’of water he said a couple guys were fishin in 15’ of water and slaying the perch

sounds like them perch are moving in to spawn.

I fished in the Rabbit Gulch area on Sunday with a few friends. We started in 17-22 feet of water and caught lots of dink perch. By dink, I mean really dinky 4 to 5 inch fish. They are probably the young from last year. Some were as small as 3 1/2 inches. We did catch a few keepers in the 8 to 11 inch range. We didn’t get any real jumbos on this trip. We did get a few nice RBT that we could see cruising off the bottom. We would reel up and the trout would usually hit the jig immediately.
We were using small pieces of perch and perch eyes on Ratfinkies or small white jigs. We moved around a little out in the middle of the bay and the perch seemed to prefer the shallower depths. The trout where more common out a little deeper and they were cruising about 16-20 feet down in 35 feet of water.

There was a pretty good crowd out there yesterday. I’m sure some of the others were members of BFT. I wish they would chime in here. I’d like to know if anyone has been able to find all those jumbos we know are in that pond.

Of course, maybe they did find them and that’s why we’re not hearing from them. [;)]

Any reports on the walleye that are in there and if so any size to them

Fished it Fri. Eve and Sat. ended up with a doz. or so from 10 to 12 1/2 in. pretty slow going .
Should have went on to Pelican and caught some gills instead.[:/]

I went over night on fri-Sat. Didn’t catch anything till about 6 am. Got some late night bites but couldn’t hook up. Sure wished the underwater camera worked. Fullmoonfishn really has some bad luck with those things. Hopefully spotrsmans will honor their returns still…[:|]. Anyway Pack, was that you in the bay opposite of the gulch parking lot? We wee on the QF6. Started early outside that cove then moved around noonish over by the island. We pounded the perch but nothing over about 11 inches. Plan on going again soon.:astonished:

Another atv went thru the ice near the shore on the West end of the bridge Sat. afternoon I guess and they had to winch it out.

We fished Starvation last Thursday and took a 4 wheeler to the area west of the Highway 40 bridge. When we got to the bridge, we found a dangerous pressure ridge that had an area of recently refrozen water and the ice was only a few inches thick. We ended up having to cross the ridge right near the shore on the west end of the bridge. The very clear ice looked pretty thin but it was about 5 or 6 inches thick on Thursday. I think the pressure ridge under the bridge is creating some dangerous conditions when water spills out on the ice and the sun heats up that water and causes the weakness.
Everyone should be careful when approaching the bridge on an ATV. Walk over and check the ice first.

We fished west of the bridge for about 4 hours and didn’t catch any perch. We did pick up some nice rainbows that were cruising around about 20 feet down in the 45 foot deep water.
