I’m headed to starvation tomorrow and using my bottom bouncers for the first time ever. I know you have to troll slowly but what size bottom bouncer would be best? is there a particular weight that seems to work better than another? hoping to catch a few walleye early tomorrow morning. Thanks
General rule is 1 ounce to every 10 fow. I use 2 ouncers almost all the time. If your not used to pulling bouncers then let me give you some advice. Adjust your speed to just get your blade from flipping to barely spinning. Your rarely have to go faster than that to entice a bite. When letting your line out, drop untill it hits bottom then quickly lock your bail and I like to give a half a reel turn from there. Pay attention to the depth when you dropped down. Adjust every foot of depth change to keep in the zone. If you start dragging to much bottom your bouncer will lay down and your harness will be dragging the bottom, snag city. Remember when you turn your inside rod will drop and be prone to snaggs. Also try going in a series of “s” turns. If you start picking up fish on the outside rod then you know they want it faster, and visa versa on the inside rod. Hope this helps.

IF you see a guy in a red drift boat with some pointers in the back stop and say hello. I am hoping to be there early too and would not mind showing you a few tricks if your having any trouble. I will say that the bite has been a little tough for the past day or two. It has been sunny and hot after some good storms. Now, hopefully the bite will get better after some more stability. While the storms were brewing I was getting 50+ fish days. Nothing huge, just constant action. On Tuesday I only saw one other fish caught besides the dozen or so that I caught that were all under 12 in… except for a rainbow that gave me a nice line burn on my index finger trying to bring him in without a net… And when I say fish I mean walleye..lol.[sly]
Thanks for the advice. Got out and got a few at starvation. Hoping to head to Willard this weekend and give it a try there. Hoping to find a few. Sounds like things are pretty hot there right now.

Some great advice above. Try a rapala into that 2 ounce bottom bouncer…
