Standings 2020 Cat Fish Contest

*Well here we go first update, includes everyone that is signed up to this point… If you have a maroon block on your line, I have you signed up… No color there, you still need to let me know if you want to join this year…

John was first out of the gate to score and sitting at a 27" average so far… Team north has the commanding lead of 54 to 0 and that’s about all I’ve got so far… *

Can I just say I’m not loving the new forum for posting files and such… It works one day and not the next… I’m really hating this thing, especially on this computer and the phone… I’ll keep trying, but my files I’m e-mailing to other computer aren’t getting there, so it’s taking more time than it should… I’ve got to get something better happening or else I won’t be able to do the usual updates as frequently as we have in the past… I’ll keep trying though… Later Jeff

Did they come across yet?

So there were a lot of fish added lately, and I’ll let Forest post the new updates, but spoiler alert… Team south has just about caught up… In fact if one more team south  fish gets entered, unless it’s really small, then the south will take the lead…  Team north needs some bigger fish to start  competing  in the top ten… but I guess the south needs the lead once in a while to keep them excited about the whole contest and all… Starting to get interesting… Later Jeff

**Of course Jeff is talking about the Top 10 total with North only 13 points ahead of South. What he is too polite to say is in TOTAL fish caught by the North (that is the 3 scoreable fish for all the Northern posted) the north is further ahead than that. Of course some of the South heavy weight Cat champs (ice_sled, Piscophilic, Mrs. J, Mooseman75, just to name a few) have not chimed in yet. Oh and heaven forbid I forget TubeDude.
But Jeff DID say that some of us Northern “misfits” have not scored yet either. This social distancing park shut down may have a large negative affect on some of us Northern crew. It kind of leaves some of us only one place to fish, and that ribbon of water is gonna get more busy as the weather warms.
I’m looking forward to July when I can hit the river and maybe by then Willard Bay every day I feel like it.
Anyway fellow Cat Competitors, here is the standings update from the past few days. Oh yea, you all may notice that Jeffs tripple 27.0" posts have put him ahead of Ahi1953 by 1 point. I kinda don’t expect that to last too long. I gotta feeling this years Cat Contest is gonna be lots different than any in the past.

Good luck to all of ya, North and South. Stay Safe, Stay Healthy, have fun. **

Jeff, Forest-- There’s gonna be a lot of yellow in the top of the standings when you do the next update. I tell ya, this is the year for the south.

**Contest standings, now that I can get back on, here they are in just one page. **

Here is the full list of all contest entrants

**Standings update **

**Standings update. A new North Team member added, bottomwatcher, a new smallest cat (Pending), and TD on the board (Pending)
Everybody have a safe and Happy Easter weekend. Gonna go make another try to get something on OUR board. ****Tin-Can & TinCansMate  **

**New corrections **

*Well I’ve got to admit the south has really done an incredible job putting up some great cats. The north has a long road to catch up.  John is starting his climb and I’m sure Paul won’t be far behind. I don’t know how John can find so many big fish but I’m glad he’s on my team. With those two and a few others that will put up some good ones this year, I’m not giving up yet, but I realize we are out numbered and UL is yielding some great fish. It’s going to be a great contest this year. Really think we need to start doing video contest update posts. Anyone a videographer?  Later Jeff *

**Seems like the Cuttler area is producing some good cats too. **

*Guys sorry been a busy week for me but I got the scores updated tonight and what a crazy week for big fish. AscendingCats now has the lead at 89 points 31.5" monster and Ben (Ice Sled) is in second at 86. Team North almost caught up in the top ten, but then Jim, Ben and Ascending went to work and pulled out a 9.5 point lead again. Top twenty is a south runaway freight train with a 50 point lead. Crazy year so far, but watch out Sharksugar is fishing now so look for a real pony race in the top ten. Forest is on the board and will likely put up some big numbers as well. Jim came off injured reserve with a 30"er. Where is Richard and Violet this year?  They pulled in some great fish last year. Going to be an incredible contest this year. Good luck all. Later Jeff *

**Well after a weekend with the site being hacked, and some good Cats caught, seems that IT folks have us back up and running…for now. So standings up to today.

Several good Cats posted the last couple days. In my memory of this contest the past 5 years, this is the most fish at or over the 30 inch
mark with 10 of them on the board as of yesterday, Saturday 9 May. And we still have over 5 months of the contest to go. We have a 2 way tie for the smallest cat @ 5.5 inches, the North has pulled up to a 2 point lead of the South in the top 10, 19 points behind the South in the Top 20, but is still almost 300 points behind the South for total top 3 team points.
Most total fish posted : SkunkedAgain =10. Highest point score with fewest fish: New member Cat in the Yak = 2 fish = 55.5 points. South Team has 38 members signed up, with 16 posting fish so far. North Team has 25 members signed up, with 12 posting fish so far.
Even with the wackey weather and the virus lock down at the beginning of the contest, I can’t remember this many fish, or this many big (29 to 30+) fish being caught and posted this early.
It’s a bit unusual to not see Ahi1953 leading the contest totals, but then the Bear River Bird Refuge just has not been as kind to most of us northeren catters so far this year as it has been in past years.
Anyway, here is the latest standings update.

OK, missed one on first attempt to post new standings. Here is re-calculated sheet.

*So my update shows the north at 306 and south at 298 for the top ten. South 579 to north 573.5 on top twenty. And it’s only the middle of May. Going to be a barn burner this year. Top score may get close to 98 points this year. Amazing how many different team south members have at least 28" fish on the board. Lots of great fish being caught. Keep it up, but don’t forget how to have fun while you do it. Later Jeff *
