Splake fishing advice?

Heading to Joes Valley Saturday, how do you catch big splake? I keep hearing chub meat, where do you get that? Any advice, depth, lures, areas[;)], etc. would be great.

well as i said in other post.. joe’s valley is not all that good when the water is muddy..
you can catch all the chub you need there at the lake.. a size 6 or 8 worm hook, with worm on it, under a bubble will catch the chub..
i use a 3 to 4 inch custom pearl tube jig to catch the bigger splake.. tip the jig with a strip of chub. i fish in 20 to 40 feet of water this time of year.. try and find brakes and drop-off that level off in 30 feet of water.. casting the jig into the bank and jiging it back to the boat works good too..
trolling can be ok too i use rapalla’s and some custom plugs this time of year as well troll in 20 to 30 feet of water getting the lures close to the bottom.. i use down riggers but leadcore works good too..

if ya dont have a boat and are bank fishing just a big chunck of chub or a 3 to 4 inch whole chub on the bottom is about as good as ya can do..
