Me and my brother are heading down to St. George to do some spring bass fishing at Sand Hollow and Quail Creek end of April. If anyone could help with, Locations on the lake? Bait Choice? Techniques Etc. We will have a 18’Bass boat we will be fishing from.

Do you plan on catch & release fishing or do you plan on keeping some?? You can catch some big fish down there. I will probably be there the end of April myself. I have been going there the last 4-years in a row… Maybe I will see you there and give you some pointers.

I stay at the Quail creek campground, I go during the week that way not many skier’s. I haven’t tried sand hollow, I am usually pretty busy at quail to leave… I will reply to your pm now…
I’ll be at Sand Hollow the 22nd - Apr 6 for work and play. Will be throwing my tackle box at them. Bass I’ll catch and release. Blue gills of any decent size will be dinner.
Alrighty man… now you got a bass boat and the place’s fulla largemouths… just point it to a place where there’s rocky places near a place of vegetation or a sunken tree.
Then start tossing a CAROLINA-RIGGED tube jigs (make it weedless) and then drag it over those rocks/through vegetation.
If that doesn’t work then use senkos… rigged of course or you can go weightless for those real shallow places.

im headin down there about that time to i fished it a couple of times but have never had good success cause we go a little to early and i dont have a boat to get them deep i was just wondering what colors you guys find best down there?
When i was down there last year fishing from shore, we were by the boat docks and off the rocks there. I was using dark pumpkin senkoś and nailing 1-2 pound Largemouth every few casts. I was also doing well with crawdad colored grups just pitching and jiging them.
I been going to sandhollow the last couple of years. I do not have a boat. I just walk around the shore and sight fish. I have caught some mighty fine largemouth’s. I use plastic worms. If i had a boat that would be awesome. You shouldn’t have a problem catching fish. There are millions of bluegill’s in there. I believe the next record largemouth will be out of there. Pineviewfisher
If you catch any LMB down there make sure you throw them on the bank. They are infesting the lakes down there!!![:p]

Anyone ever throw crank baits with success at Quail or Sand Hollow?
remember you might be there for the spawn so the fish will be on the bottom guarding nests. I dont ever throw crankbaits at them down there. Texas rigged only… for me…

Yes. My biggest fish out of Sand Hollow came on a crank bait. (5-6lbs) I’d post pics but I’m not on my regular computer as I’m down in Key West catching Tarpon. I was using Bomber “Bill Dance” fat free shad, in Tennessee Shad color. 3/4 ounce. Fished fast in about 20 feet of water. Rapala jointed tail shad color cranks have caught a lot of fish for me as well down there. Senkos always work. I prefer weightless, just toss them near a brush pile and let them sink. Texas rigged works well too. Also have had a lot of luck on hula grubs, drop shotting. They seem to like the smoke with red flake. Swim Senkos also work well. Bring a variety of colors for all of them…they will be hot on one, then turn off, then just switch. Have also had a lot of luck on Strike King spinner baits in Chartreuse and white. I like to put a 4" double tailed Yamamoto chartreuse & black flaked grub as a trailer. In early morning, try a red & white Heddon spook for top water. Can be a ton of fun.
