So I have the best wife in the world. She has this weekend off - the first this summer - and she wants to go fishing/camping/hiking. Did I snag a good one or what?!! So the plan is to head down to Forsyth by Loa to camp late Thursday night, wake up early and fish Forsyth for large tiger and splake trout, then Mill Meadow for large browns and then Johnson for tiger muskie, have lunch around 3, and then head up to Donkey in the Boulders (4WD with my 99 4Runner) and fish Donkey and camp there. Saturday we would hit the few lakes up there and maybe hike to Lost Lake and camp by Donkey and then head home on Sunday.
I wanted to run this past you all to make sure that these are good plans. We have a little aluminum boat that we are bringing with a little electric trolling battery so once the battery is dead, no more motor.
My biggest questions are:
-
Would it be worth fishing Johnson for the tiger muskies? Any reports/recommendations?
-
Will my 4Runner make it to Donkey without being completely trashed? If so, what lakes in that loop would you recommend hiking to with good fishing?
-
Any techniques for the Boulder mountain fishing that you would recommend this time of year?
-
Any bear problems in the Boulders?
-
When are gas prices going to go down?
I have fished Mill Meadow and Forsyth and loved them so any advice on the other spots would be extremely helpful - and I will post a report with pictures when I get back. Thanks.
