Sounds like a fun time in the Uintas. I had a similar experience about 3 weeks ago. One day it was powerbait, one day it was a worm and one day it was a midge fly on my flyrod. The same technique never worked from one day to the next! Anyways, fishing the Uintas is still a lot of fun.
Too bad those little brookies have ruined so many Uinta streams in the past 5- 10 years. Not sure why DWR won’t institute a keep or kill policy on those pest. Oh well I’ll just keep spending my time and money on trips out state.
Last week was the families annual trip to the Uintas. Almost no rain at all but more then enough wind to make you miss the rain. We have been camping in the same area for over twenty years now and have never seen anything like what this springs flood did to the area. Must have been something to see. Fishing was a little slower then years past but everyone caught fish and had a great time. One day any lure with a gold blade on it was the ticket. Next day a plain old worm worked great. Funniest was some people fishing with salmon eggs. The guy with a brand new jar of them was killing them. His buddy with the leftovers from last year nothing. Then of course there were the little brookies. They would hit anything and everything you fished with. Finding a place without the little brookies was harder then finding what the fish wanted for the day.
