I have very mixed reports on the situation there but Echo finally started to show ice yesterday in the shallows near the inlet so I would think S&M would be capped but as to how thick I would not dare venture. I will ask a couple regulars up that way and see what they know

I would sure like to hear a report on Smith and Morehouse and also if one can drive to the reservoir.
I turned around about 1/2-way in. Driving a 4x4 Expedition with brand new mountain snow tires on it. I could have kept going but was alone in a company vehicle, so I didn’t.
Snow that was present was rutted with glare ice in the tracks, probably from the warm days and cold nights up there.
Sand M is capped and fishable per one of my students. He drove right to it but that was a few days ago. he said it was very icey but passable. I would not try without a 4x4 and a set of chains in the back of the truck just in case. He caught fish but did not give me much in specifics.
Thanks for the update on S&M, might have to head up there in the next few weeks on sleds

Thanks for the responses. It remains a target for me (and I have two sets of chains…)
Anyone know if Smith and Morehouse has safe ice? Also, is that road still open?
Trying to find some additional spots to ice fish.
Thanks in advance!
