Small compact inflatsble life vests.

I’ve posted on some other forums but decided to get the most I can as for as opinions. Besides, you guys might be into tube fiishing stuff a little more. Any opinions on waist vs, vest inflatables?

I’ve decided to smarten up and get myself a birthday present, especially with bouncing around on UT. Lake and other shallow reservoirs in high winds. I’m a tuber and am in the market for a “best buy” inexpensive inflatable life vest that I can wear while tubing that ain’t going to be big and cumbersome so I can still do my fishing unencumbered, or reasonably so and won’t cost me a leg and an arm. Haven’t bought one to date because they just don’t seem to be very inexpensive and I am short on $. Any suggestions as to sources, brands, etc.??

I really hate wearing a life jacket but I recently tried one of the new neoprene ones, It wasn’t half bad not real big and bulky maybe a tad warm on those hot days. check out some of the outlet stores like

Ive seen the inflatable life vests and there neat but have always wondered who would pull the cord if i got conked on the head. the price has also kept me away

I use the noninflatable for the same reasons price and I figure that if I went in the water it would be for some catastrophic reason and I didn’t want to have to remember to do one more thing.
This is the one I wear.

It is comfortable, but I don’t snap it all the way up. I only put on the leg straps so that I don’t go out the bottom.

You might look at Cabela’s inflatables.

This seat cushion is another option. I am getting one to put on my float tube seat. I want to be a little higher out of the water. Might work for you too.

I wear an automatic inflatable made by Sospenders and love it. I actually wear it 90% of the time it’s so comfrotable. It has a back-up manual pull if needed. I usually test it out every couple of years and it works perfect. I figure for the cost of a recharge cyclinder it is worth testing once and a while. Only problem with Sospenders is the price. I think the run $160~180 now, in '01 I paid $80.
