Skunked At Rockport

Fished Sunday at the rock. I started by the boat ramp and kept moving around to find fish. I was fishing two poles. One deep and one shallow. I switched jigs and baits through out the day, and found no fish at all, not even a bite. I fished from 7A.M. to 12:30, and gave up. I seen 1 fish caught all day where I was. I guessing I was doing something wrong, or maybe there is not as many fish left in the lake due to the tagged fish contest. The ice is a good 18 inches, and should last a while.

Thanks for posting your report Gman, too bad there was no catching but hopefully the had a good time fishing. The Rock can be like that from time to time but I hope it improves because I think that is where I’m heading this coming weekend[:/]. What color jigs were you using?

I tried white glow jigs and my favorite jig that seems to work best on all lakes, a lime green pepper flake tube jig. I tried meal worms and worms. But dont try what I did, because it seemed to not catch a thing. Ha, Ha. Good luck to you out there. If the weather permits, I think Im going to head to Scolfield. I dont think I can handle another day of being defeated.

Thanks for the info. We have done good at times with chartreuse colored jigs but last time 2" glow and white tubes worked the best. So you were using jigs that worked for us on the last trip there.

we fished sat just off the ramp, using white split tailed paddle bugs w/pink heads and pink crappie nuggets.we caught 5 from 11 to 4, i think we will return on wed…
