what are the best kind of sinkers/weights?
I think it all depends on where and what you are fishing for. If you are fishing for bottom feeding fish like cats you could use a large football ,egg, or split. For fishing a current a non-eared split works well. For bass fishing a bullet weight Texas rigged on a plastic worm works well.I like a small football that slips up and down the line and then place a very small splitshot about 10-18 inches up from my bait. It allows more natural movement and less resistance when they hit.[;)]
what are you fishing for and what type of water?
Sinkers come in many shapes and sizes that you choose for a particular presentation. But for you starting out, a small pack of various sizes of split shot will get you going. As you learn, you can buy what you need for your type of fishing. Good luck
