Hi everyone! I’m planning a birthday night for my husband and wanted to go fishing for the evening. He fishes every chance he gets but I don’t fish all that often so I don’t know the best place to go. It needs to be somewhere close since it’s just for the evening. We live in SLC… I was thinking of Silver Lake up Big Cottonwood but don’t know if the fishing is good there or if it gets really crowded because of the docks all around it. Any suggestions on Silver Lake or some place better?? Thanks in advance for any help!!!
Hey fishloverr,
Welcome to BFT !
**LOL ! Silver Lake … Big Cottonwood Canyon Silver Lake ? Were you planning on ice fishing ? **
**Ice fishing up there would not be productive but it could be adventurous (read dangerous). Silver lake is still frozen and snow covered (it’s snowing today as well). **
Better off fishing in the valley at Utah Lake, Willard, Jordan River, or one of the community ponds. Or, you could choose from Jordanelle, Rockport, Deer Creek or even East Canyon.
In any case, if you are thinking on fishing tonight, ANYPLACE you choose would probably be a better choice than Silver Lake.
LOL! Okay… I didn’t think of that!! Thanks for the info. It would have sucked to drive all the way up there and my plan would have been ruined!
Thanks so much for the help!!
Little dell is also close.
Is there any fish in little dell? I passed it several times, never saw a fisherman!
