Rod for streamers

Getting a new rod for streamers tomorrow, what should i get a 10’ or 9’ will be a 7wt for big streamers from float tube, boat and river just curious what you guys think, mostly fishing for trout, but would like to use it for everything like bass and carp as well.

opps was supposed to be in fly fishing section its is for a fly rod!

You are talking FLY fishing right? a 10’ seven weight would be cool. I like a shorter rod for Carp. Thinking building an 8’ . The Bass rods are around 7’9" to 7’ 11". I like the feel of them, but I also have a 12’ seven weight I have yet to use…LOL

Sounds like the 9’ would be better then thats what justin said [;)]

I think so. That extra foot is nice on big rivers but it will also feel like a club after awhile. I was fishing a river in Idaho having a blast with a Hardy 7’6" 4 wt. Light tough, could feel anything and the White fish put a very nice bend. Dumb me, walked into the trailer on a breezy day with the rod. Snap, lost the tip. Was forced to use a 10’ five weight the rest of the trip. What a club…LOL

You’re gonna want at least a 9 footer when huckin’ from a tube. You gotta get that line up high to clear your body and tube. Good luck.

Pretty sure it can be done with an eight foot though. Smaller lakes I use 7 foot. Don’t have to cast across the lake. You are mobile :sunglasses:

I use both a 9’ 6 wt and a 9.5’ 7wt for my toon and tube. I like the extra 6" for longer casts with big streamers though.
A 10’ rod may be heavy after an all day trip to the pond. If you can find a rod in 9.5" that would be a good compromise. Otherwise I would suggest going with a 9" 7wt.
