Fished Rockport today. Arrived about 7:30, and was fishing before 8:00. Found perch in the first hole I drilled, but none with any size. I was on the east side out from the boat ramp in 52 feet of water. Got two small ones to the ice and lost three or four on the way up. Caught a chunky 18 inch rainbow suspended at twenty feet. Then things went dead. Moved north and found some perch in 48 ft. Got three dinks to the ice, and had a couple come unpinned. Things died again. Waited an hour for things to start up again, but no luck. Took a walk up to the dam looking for trout, but no luck. Drilled holes on the way back but never did mark anymore fish. Just lots and lots of empy water. Left at noon and caught lunch at the Spring Chicken Inn for some lunch. MMMmmm! Then headed to Jordanelle for the afternoon. Really like fishing Rockport, but the last couple of years it has been a bust.
Not bad? One bow and a handfull of dink perch. I’m afraid I’m done with Rockport for this year. Heading to Scofield right now to see if it has gotten any better.
I have fished Rockport also a couple of times by the dam and by the boat ramps with one fish, not caught by me!!! I still might try again but jordanelle looks more promising need one of those big browns under my belt.
I fished Rockport with my son on Saturday.
We fished to the North of the Ramp with no success at all.
We fished in water that was from 8’ to 55’ deep.
I saw a lot of folks over toward the inlet.
Wonder how they did?
With an ice cap of about 10" of solid ice, I’m thinking that the fish may be closer to fresh water now.
If I go back again, I’ll fish over closer to the inlet.
