Made a last minute trip to the berry today. This is the first time I have been there in about 7-8 years. Not as good as I had hoped. I caught 3 nothing big and one other guy caught one. We were over by the ladders but out by the islands. Moved around so much we ran the auger out of gas. Couldn’t find the fish today. When one showed up we could catch it but it was very rare to even see one. Lots of people out there and they were all moving around alot also. Ice is about 17’ with about 1-2" of snow. No slush yet. If this weather keeps up the snow will be gone soon. It was up nead 45 deg today.
The ice on jordanell looked very bad and the ice on Echo looked crappy with very wet/ opened edges. Hope it gets cold again soon.
Atleast you caught 3 and got out. I will not make it up again this year. Oh well, bigger and more tasty fish are on my agenda.[;)]
We also had a poor day today at the berry, something is amiss up there. There were 5 of us today and we landed a grand total of 3 fish and 2 lost at the hole. We tried several spots around the soldier creek ramp and across the bay. Then we went to Chicken creek and tried several spots over there. Just weren’t many fish around, we had a camera and 2 flashers and we just didn’t see any fish.
I just talked to a friend and they put a hurt on the fish today. They were in the narrows in 9’ of water and caught 31 fish between 3 in 4 1/2 hours and lost 4 at the hole that went over 27"!
I do agree though, it is a wierd year up there.
I hit the berry today and caught 4 in the morning and then nothing the rest of the day moved around alot but should have stayed in my first spot it was the most productive.
The berry treated us just fine today. Between 2 of us we iced 25. All in the slot but a couple just under 22 and fat as could be. One of the fattys really liked green jigs cause he took my green paddle bug and had someone elses hooked in the other lip(also green). Like you can see with the pic they had lots of color on them today. Seems like every one we caught today was dark and colored like this. Sorry the Berry didn’t treat ya well today[inline “the berry.jpg”]
