Rainbow Trout: Sterile?

I was watching an older episode of Hooked on Utah. They caught a fat rainbow trout and made a comment about it spawning soon. I was under the impression that rainbows in utah were sterile. How true is that?

The northern part of the state stocks almost exclusively sterile triploids; however, other portions of the state stock fertile rainbows that have not gone through the heat shocking process. So, trout like at Otter Creek reservoir are fertile; however, very rarely are these spawns successful because of a lack of good spawning habitat.

I had a great day after that snowstorm last night,
I think the lengths are about: 23, 25, 26.5, possibly pushing 27 with a long tip of the tail, 26, and 26.5

Wow Bryton you got more fish than you told me about. Ok I only score the top 3 fish and I found a 26, 26.5 and a 27" fish there. That 27 has that wild long tip of the tail that just verily touches the line, but that’s good enough for my scoring to count. Congrats on a great day. Later J

Caught a total of 12 channel cats, ranging from 23 to 27.5 inches. Caught 2 that were both bout 27.5 inches. I apologize for not having the second cat right up next to the tape measure

Nice job Bryton, good for 27.5 times 2, both are good for that length… Well done.. J](https://imgbb.com/)
