Quick brookie fix

Wanted to head south for some better brook trout but domestic duties tied me up Saturday morning and Sunday. So Saturday afternoon at 4:00 I loaded up my gear and headed for the Uintas. Caught 7 plump 13-14” brook trout and one 16”. Decent brookies for a drive-to lake in the Uintas 75 minutes from the house. They’re a bit washed out because I stuck them in a cooler of ice before driving home, but the fillets were nice! All caught on Tubedude’s Little marabous.

Always nice to get some of those nice spring brookies. And the fillets, really nice. I have been distracted with the kokanee in Strawberry. Will have to take a break and chase some brookies as the high country opens. Thanks for the report.

My brother and his daughter hiked into a Uinta lake that we frequent over the weekend. I knew it was a bit early looking at the local mountains. The lake was half frozen and they spent a cold winter camp night but got some fish and it was a great bonding experience. She leaves for Montana in another week - summer job before moving out of state for college in the fall.

Purty fish and fine fillets.

Nice work Dave! Glad you could get so much done in a quick afternoon/evening trip.

You make it pretty quickly, despite that slow road.

Thanks Justin. It’s only slow that last half mile to the lake. The first 3.5 is pretty easy going.
