Made the trip down to Quail Creek without being sure of what the conditions would be (got “leave” from work so had to take advantage regardless), the weather report said rainy and cold but it was neither. Hot and bright with a very slight breeze periodically throughout the day.
The fishin was very tough for me, had to really grind it out to get a bite and even then it wasnt usually a solid bite, had a bunch of misses. Dont know if it was me or the fish… Probably me, but I managed to put something together finally. Not a bunch of fish but the size was there. They were very spooky, if I got anywhere close to where they were and the water wasnt stained or muddy then it was gauranteed I wasnt catching them, so it was lots of long casts and fishing deeper water for me.
Anyways here are the pictures, I was by myself so some of the pictures are blurry because I still cant figure out the focus with the auto timer, in-focus pictures are hit or miss. I only have a couple that are either in-focus or anywhere near focused and of course the big fish of the trip is blurry but I attached it anyway because you can see it enough to get the point. Hope you enjoy.
Nice fish, sounds like a good trip…
Was the fish deep and what did they take???
Dude…those fish are huge for this time of year! You must know your stuff, i have been fishing that lake since i was 8 years old and i’ve never caught one over 4lbs between august and december. Those fish are something to be proud of coming out of that pond this time of year!! Nice Work!
Nice Bass bud!!! Fish like that sure make it worth the long trip down huh?
TS
Way to go! I am totally jealous. I am a trout fool and don’t have the bass thing down yet. Sounds like I need to great some “leave” from work too.[fishin]
Bassrods, the 2 big fish were SHALLOW and all the rest were in 10-ish feet of water.
Christopher30, I wish the fish at Pineview and east Canyon thought I knew my stuff…since I have had my @#s kicked twice by those places this year!
I’m thinking about going back this weekend, “basstrackin” is going and I might tag along…
The bass in East canyon are mosty small 12" and under..
Nice to see you got a few at Quail, did you try Sand???Sand has more bass and can be easier at times…
Nope, didnt try Sand. I planned on hitting it up while I was down there but just stayed at Quail instead.
Call me tomorrow morning or before 10 and let me know what the wife said about going this weekend. If we go I am going to have to get that new rod soon.
Matt, in case you havent checked your phone, give me a call…It’s on for this weekend!
AHHHHHH Cool thanks for the invite!!! I see where the love is!!!
TS
You would have gotten an invite, but apparently it is off for this weekend and now maybe on for next weekend…
Don’t feel bad Koch. I didn’t get an invite either. And I work with him.
Typical “Bass” Fisherman, dont want to invite the real guys that know how to catch “THEIR” species of fish!!!
TS
We just didn’t want you to go down to Quail and get skunked again with the ole repala.
Not too worried about getting skunked, more worried about losing all my lures like last time. I think I went through 12 “rigs” that time with Big B!!! Didnt matter if it was weedless or not…shoot I could cast my line out with nothing attached and get snagged!!! But now Big Daddy has his groove back and ready to slash some LMB throats!!!
TS
Bryan and I where thinking about going to the Gorge and keeping some of those trophy macks to put on the wall or maybe feed to the dog
. Next weekend when it warms up where planing on heading back down for some jack in the box.
those are a couple of nice bass. I might have to try that place one of these days. thanks for sharing. later chuck
Yeah koch, you definitely had some horrible luck with snags! I swear you were getting snagged on the water because I dont think there was enough brush in that lake to snag as much as you did! We are going to try and go down next weekend provided I can get a day off the following week, hopefully we can at least get out somewhere locally this weekend?
Matt, dont those plastics smell great! They are durable too and apperantly the fish like them… How long did it take to recieve them after your order? Oh yeah, in case your wondering why I am replying to your text on here, its because my phone is dead and I havent put it on the charger yet.
Thanks utwalleye, hopefully you get a chance to get down there.
I hope the dam bursts’ on that lake again and your precious bass go down river you two!!! haha
