Pruess lake question

Lance, They are in Pyramid lake and can be caught there.
I have a buddy that went to Pruess to catch a Sacramento perch and mark it off his list a few years back. He seems to keep up with what’s happening out there, I’ll check and see if knows anything current and let you know.

I have a little intel on Sacramento Perch although I’ve never targeted them or caught one. Kent and I discussed this a few years ago and have some ideas. I’m not sure Pruess is your best bet for finding one. PM me and I can tell you what I know.

I have fished Pruess twice for sacramento perch (also on my bucket list) and got skunked both times. I’m not sure that there are any left in that small reservoir. If you find them, somewhere in Utah, please send me a PM.

I think there is another lake in Utah. I’ll ask my buddy who fished Pruess. I think he mentioned another
Lake as well.

Well thanks to you guys I learned something new this morning!
I did not know the Sacramento Perch is not even a real Perch, it is the only native Sunfish in the Western United States.
You would think the DWR would put a little more effort in to keep it thriving?
Who doesn’t want delicious native sunfish in our waters that grow to 17”?
And, they taste much better than June suckers!!

I Talked to my buddy who caught a Sacramento perch there (Pruess) it was more years in the past than I thought. Around 2010 , he’s not sure they are still in there? We both recalled hearing of a lake in that “area” that had them but can’t remember any other info as to where that would be?
Sorry for not any help!

I read somewhere that the first Sacramento Perch transplanted to Utah went to Cutler Reservoir and the Bear River in the 1880’s or 1890’s. Has anyone heard of any Sacramento Perch being caught in Cutler or the Bear in modern times, say after the 1960’s or 70’s?

Sacramento Perch is still on my “not caught” list. I remember some posts a bit back about someone running out to Pruess and it was low or empty or soething like that. I will go back into BFT history and see if I can find that post but anyone wandered that way with additional input or will i need to go to California to check that species off the list?
