I took my kids to Deer Creek. The 5 year old is about old enough to make some casts and not get tangled the whole time. He’s always asking a million fishing questions so he knows deer creek has smallmouth bass in the rocks and that they like to feed on crawdads. Going through my tackle box he pointed out what he wanted me to tie on his line. It was one of TD’s wobble head crawdad marabous.
His spiderman pole only has about 15 feet of line on it but he was able to make some decent casts as we walked the rocky shoreline. He yelled at me that he had a bite. I figured he was just snagged in the rocks until I saw a pretty decent smallie flopping around. This is the first fish he’s caught all by himself other than getting into a horde of white bass at UL which will hit anything. Needless to say he was pretty excited. He out fished his old man as I didn’t get any bass over 7 inches.
