Love flyfishfood, used to love fishing Damsel fly nymphs back in the day, now that I am going to restart Stillwater fishing I am tying up some of these Damsels, love my new vise [;)]
Nice ties! I need to start tying for spring it seems it might come early this year.
Nice tie…I’d bite it.
When you toss them in the water, they’ll quickly become damsels in distress.
Your fly looks “fishey” to me. What type of dubbing are you using? Maybe colored hair’s ear? Zugbug.
I am positive your pattern will catch fish, and nicely done. One suggestion “in addition” try tying on a shorter hook the body and eyes, and then a longer tail (keeping the whole fly at no more than an inch long).
When they swim, their whole body wiggles.
I got my pattern in Flies For The Greater Yellowstone Area, if you can find a copy.
Will give it a try, thanks [:)]
Remo,
Nice looking damsel. I would love to know where you got, or how you made the eyes. Try tying it with a thread to match the color of the eyes, and see which one fishes better. A dull orange thread has sometimes doubled my action. I keep plenty of both colors in my box.
25 Lb. mono….burned with a lighter.
Tied a smaller one, this one is about an inch.
