So the ice is melting… but no boat. Where is the best all around lake for fishing from the bank. I’m used to fishing for trout.

where do you live? are you willing to drive far? I would say jump into the nearest river and start throwing spinners if you want to catch trout. If you want lakes I’d start looking at the state parks ice conditions some of them are already ice free or coming very close. jordanelle for example.
Utah lake is ice free and the fish should be biting right about now. There is also yuba you can fish it from the shore hope this helps.
First of all I’d like to welcome to the site thanks for signing up. There are many community fishing ponds in the area. You can get a list of them at the DWR office, maybe even on line. If you want to tell us the area you live we could tell you want is in your area. WH2
Scofield has always been good along the east shore and around the dam. Thats my #1 pick for shore fishing. Minnows or power bait always work for me. Happy fishing 
Sorry it took me for ever to find out how to post… I live close to Downtown Salt Lake.. I don’t mind traveling. I fished about 10 years ago at strawberry and a little at current creek. I want to get back into fishing again. I’m just looking for the best place to start again with my wife. She has never fished before (but she’s excited to start) I just don’t want us to get skunked our first couple weekends and have her get frustrated… I guess fishing with your wife could be a whole different thread though… thanks
Community ponds are always your best bet for easy shore fishing.

Electric Lake is a great place to catch some fish (try a minnow under a bobber and some PowerBait off of the bottom). It is beautiful country up there and if Electric Lake isn’t producing there are many other places to try close by. If interested, send me a PM.
