Pineview, Causey, S. Ogden River, PV 7-28

Awoke at 6am and my buddy and his girlfriend were supposed to meet me at 6:45am and I ditched them by 7:15am.

Pineview - Went solo on my pontoon to Cemetery Point for $11 at 10am. I put out a pole while I set up with a nightcrawler and noda. I then went out on my toon on the south fork side and within my 1st cast I landed a Smallmouth Bass at 11 inches. Within 3 more casts to the same spot I hooked one and fought a bit before he broke off. The I got a bite a 10 minutes later but I failed to set the hook. Then the hordes arrived! Apparently kids are like bass…they like to swim at points with rocky beaches! Suddenly all the scouted out bass holes were crawling with swimmers including the one I was at. Not to mention the wake boarders were EVERYWHERE! It was enough chop to make you sea sick!
By 11 am I was about to leave when my buddy and his girlfriend called me telling me they caught a SMB and lost a tiger musky. They rowed all the way from the far side of spring creek to cemetery point to avoid the fee and still fish with me. Well with my bass holes filled with kids I hauled my toon over to the other side and fished over there. All I got were snags and I left to Causey within 30mins. The SMB was her first fish ever. My bass was caught on a worm rigged wacky with crawfish spray, their fish were caught/missed on a Blue Fox Gold spinner in size #3.

Causey - We arrived at 2pm and launched by 3pm. We got skunked. I had the only bite of the day with my Little Jakes in Silver tipped with a nightcrawler. We went our separate ways to the inlets of Skull Crack Arm. I saw 3 fish jump at the inlet and 2 at the dam. The other fisherman weren’t doing well either and the one’s that did get anything, that were WILLING to talk, said they got 1 fish. I threw every color of spinner except black, yellow, and purple because I left them at home. I even used and dragged a second pole with nightcraler/powerbait combo and nothing. I personally think they wanted flies. The best part of the day at Causey was the very skimpy bikini’s and the wet t-shirt sighting. I will take T&A over catching fish any day! We left at 7:30pm.

South Fork Ogden River?- We spent 30 mins just below the dam at the spillways. I saw 3 fish jump. We tried blue fox gold spinners tipped with worms, pink roostertail spinners, Silver Kastmaster’s, and even sunk a worm/ powerbait combo. Nothing bit! There were around 4 other excluding us that were in the area as well.

Pineview - Well I spent $11 so I went solo to the spot where I caught the SMB earlier in the day. No swimmers at that time. By the time I got there I realized it was 9:30pm and I couldn’t launch a toon to get out there and be out by 10pm (closing time), so I tried my luck from shore. I learned the hard way that Wacky rigs are very hard to see bites near dark with mono line so I left after about 10 casts. Here are the pics.

My SMB of the day at Pineview.

Causey. No the water isn’t green, the sun was in the pic and it came out that way.
