Ottercreek, forsythe, millmeadow???

Going down to fish lake on thursday-saturday. (Can’t wait to hear how the perch contest goes.) Was thinking of hitting ottercreek as well or maybe forsythe? Have never fished any of these except fishlake. Just wondering if anyone has ice conditions and access of these others, can you get a quad on them etc.? As well as any success?
Thanks.

Guy I work with has a cabin in Antimony. He went down there last weekend and said Otter Creek was all open water. Second hand info I know, but I would take a long pole if you plan to fish there.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated. We’ll probably just do fishlake. Unless forsythe is iced, might do a day there?? Thanks again.

Two friends and I fished Forsyth last week on Thursday. Due to the elevation, the lake has a thick 18 to 24 inch ice cap. There was about a foot of snow on the lake but no slush. I think you could use a 4 wheeler on there if yours will go OK in snow that may now be a little deeper. We tried to target perch and the tiger trout. We fished in the west arm of the lake in 10 to 12 feet of water over some weed beds.

We caughts lots of perch but most were in the 4 to 6 inch range. We did get a very few larger 10 to 11 inch perch. By very few I mean like six or seven all day for three guys. We caught some tigers up to about 18 inches and some smaller splake. We used pieces of nightcrawlers and some pieces of chub. Remember the regulations do not allow the use of perch for bait in Forsyth.

If you do get over there, I would like to hear a current report because it may be our next trip if the ice keeps getting worse at Starvation. We fished over there today and getting on and off is getting more difficult due to the thin ice at the edges. If you are heading over to Starvation you’ll need at least two 8 foot boards to get off the ice safely in the afternoon.

I’ve fished off the shore at Otter creek a few times its not terrible, they have some decent sized trout to hook in to!

Otter Creek is definitely open water. take your long pole.

Otter Creek is definitely open water. take your long pole…and jigs. Gonna hit it early in the morning. If anyone goes I’ll be on the southern end first off the bank. If you see an old Dodge Dakota come say hey.

Thanks for the info. Might have to check it out. I’ve never fished there. Will post on it if we go there.

Can you put a boat in Otter Creek, and what is the special regulations in Cliff Note form?

Yes, launch at State Park is open. General regulations.

If you want some ice fishing, Mill Meadow or Forsyth are good choices. Koosharem is also pretty close and can hold a few nice cutts.

Thanks for the reply. We’re going to hit fishlake for a day or two. I think that forsythe will get a morning or evening trip as well.
