Onieda SKUNK

Hit THE BIG O this morning and found nothing. On the water by 07:30 and drilled many a holes, 18-46 feet and moved to several diffferent areas trying to locate the fish. Gave up by 12:00 and never marked a single fish the whole time, what the heck.

Welcome to Oneida!

We fished it for awhile yesterday and picked up one small walleye. Pretty slow

That sounds like a typical day on the ice there. Only seems you have left out the part about the WIND. Was the water brown as it always is?

Yes, the water was an ugly brownish green color. And actually the wind was not bad, just a little breezy but it snowed and rained the whole time I was there. Even with the weather being crappy it was an absolute perfect day. I enjoyed every minute until I got home to find out that I must have drilled to many holes because my back is all screwed up and can’t hardly walk.

That Onieda area is one of the most beautiful areas I’ve fished but it sure it tough fishing. This year is going to go down as one of my worst ice seasons ever, hopefully things will be better next year. I’m already thinking about getting the boat out[crazy].

Your fishing deep. Every one I’ve talked to has been fishing in 12 feet and less. And catching perch and small walleyes

Normally I do fish deep most places I go, I have never had much success fishing that shollow for perch but I guess I need to start thinking out of the box. I will have to try this the next time I’m out. Is this Onieda that your talking about or other places as well. I have caught them shallow at weston in years past but thats how weston is, generally I average 25-40 feet most places but this year is definitely different.[crazy]
