Hit Oneida on Saturday with ol Ninjaset in search of the smallie madness we had the week before. Got to the lake around 8 and we were greeted by and old friend, the WIND. The fishing was slow in the beginning, luckily I brought my bow so while Ninja figured out the bite, I began my assault on the goldfish. I just got a new reel for my compound and holy crap was it a blast, I’ll never use a hand wind again. The wind died down so I put down the bow and started to fish. Ended up with a few nice smallies but the bite was totally different than the previous trip. We decided to anchor up and vertical jig for what ever would bite. Ended up spending the next two hours reeling in 10 plus inch perch cast after cast, even managed a few dinker walleye. Nothing huge this trip but for all you perchheads, it’s definitely worth the trip.
ya buddy

killer forum screen name too lol
ya its north of bear lake and just northeast of preston i think. looks like a cool little lake and its really not that far, just gotta get an idaho permit.
dont forget, if you take a boat up into ID you HAVE to stop at the inspection stations off the side of the road and you HAVE to have an invasive species sticker, you can get it here:
Ah - a bunch of panfish, big deal! I wanna see the Holy Goldfish! Haha!
Nice haul - looks like a few toothy perch there too, the Seegar variety?
So - mind if I ask - what were they hitting? Using a dropshot, or just jigs? I’d been finding the bluegill wanted smaller bites… but perch might be a bit more greedy!
What kind of reel did you get? I like mine, but dang lot of line twist and tangle in there!
Gotta get me up to some of them lakes. Very encouraging - thanks for the post. I’ll just have to leave the kitties alone for a while!
YOU on the other hand need to start wacking some of them big whiskery ones!
pretty sure its in Idaho
Keerect.
Bit north/east of Preston - Riverdale - Mink Crick (as it’s called).
Idaho.
Two inch white tube jigs with black jigheads were the ticket tipped with worm, and yes I need to get my @#$ in cat gear! I bought a AMS reel, it’s freaking sweet!
Cats are only growing bigger just as well get in a few other fun spots while they are fishing well and the cats of July and August will be big and fat waiting for ya… At least that has been my opinion so far this summer… I loved Oneida last summer but there are just so many places to go this year I can’t get everywhere I want to try… I still want to try Porcupine, Bear Lake and Flamming Gorge not to mention needing to go back after my wiper at Willard… Sure wish I didn’t have to work… Nice report, I think that’s the best bunch of perch I’ve seen this year… Later J
Bring lunch! I’ll have a fish fillet with everything, fries and choc shake please!![]()
Sweet Perchys!

I would but my kids cleaned em up, setting fish tacos on the table at my house is like throwing a chicken into a pool of piranhas, I’m lucky I still have my fingers!

Just using some skills I learned from the zen master of panfish! If you don’t know Bob’s you don’t know shiz!
