Son has two tags, wife has one tag, and I have two tags all for Utah Elk.
Yesterday morning I took my son and GF hunting and he put down #1.
It was his GF’s first time ever exposed to hunting.
We broke cow down in to five very heavy game bags and I had them off mountain and headed to butcher at 7:59am.
Finally, a nice cool day to enjoy an Elk hunt up in our beautiful mountains!

It is an OTC tag that runs Aug.1-Jan.31.
The catch is that you have to have permission to hunt on the private land that the tag is tied to.
It is the DWR’s way of hazing herds of Elk on private land back to public land.
I will warn you upfront, be prepared to knock on a lot of doors to get permission.
