Tried to get a combo license online this morning so to hit Mantua today and go for geese tomorrow. No go online for the combo or small game.
So, just thought to go over the hill to BC Wallyworld and get one. No go there either. Wally associate told how he just sold a year fishing instead of a combo for a customer’s wife and that the guy said he would straighten it out with the DWR later. Yeah, right, I don’t need to go through that hassle and with no office close. Also, wanted to go goose hunting tomorrow and the small game is not available either.
So went home and called DWR web site number to report problem. Got hold of a guy right away (now that is a surprise), and he said that they would get a tech right on it. Now, several hours later it is not a surprise that still is fixed.
I bought a combo license online for my son at about 3:30 p.m. today with no problems. Headed up to the frigid Scofield in the morning. I’ll bet it’ll be toasty.

I had the same problem last night. Since we had an early start today on a fishing trip, I just went ahead and bought the fishing license for now and will hopefully not have too much difficulty in resolving things before I put in for hunting tags.
I didn’t have that problem, but my wife got me a new combo license for Christmas. My old one expires in February and the associate at Wally World told her the new one would start when the old one ends. You guessed it…new one starts in December now.
I sent an e-mail to the Division Christmas day and have not got a response. Guess I’ll have to eat the couple overlapping months and go back to a December renewal. Don’t trust the goofs at WalMart!
The 365 day licenses have always started on the day of purchase. I wish they’d let you chose a start date like they do for the daily licenses. I
I like the old way of licenses follow the year that way I always know I need a new one on Jan. 1, and can buy it ahead of time so to have it. Don’t even want to tell you the number of people that just I know that have forgot when their ‘365 days’ were up and ended up going out without a valid license.
Yeah, I know that drill, but my wife did not and listened to the dweeb at WalMart.
I purposfully put mine off after it expired until I went fishing again so I’d have one less thing to spend money on during December. Back to square one I guess.
[;)] I have been fishing up in Idaho and today was the first day I wanted to try a Utah pond. Could not find my combo liscence and went on line. Confused as hell that I could not get one so I went to wally world. Confused them also. I ended up getting a copy of my last year combo that is good for another 60 days. You think the DWR woud dry run their web site before the New Year. But then again look at the extra revenue then probably made in this one day alone.
i think the whole 365 day license thing has created a big increase in revenue. like smokepole said , many folks just don’t realize when their time is up.
i wonder how much citations are up for fishing & hunting without a valid license since that 365 day move?
who get’s the fine money - state general fund? or the DNR?
Totally agree with brookie, I love that utah gives you 365 days to fish with your yearly license. I wish Wyoming would do the same thing. It’s not too hard to look at your license and know when it is expired. I just wish you didn’t have to buy a 2nd pole permit but I can live with it.
I agree totally Brookie.
I know I sure wish Idaho would do it.
Say you have a bad winter and are unable to get out till say May (I know you ice people don’t relate to this but bare with me)
Then the following year is like this with mild and allot of Open water still. You could get out say in Feb… get your moneys worth and at $100. that would be nice.
Here is the deal. Christmas takes it’s tole on my check book as I am sure it does others, I don’t need that extra bill right then. Sure I get money for christmas as I am sure many do, but it goes for those pesky bills, or a nice dinner.
Tell you what I do, I buy or get one for free, a Brand new Years Calendar. Before I hang it on the wall, I mark down important days like Birthdays, and anniversary[;)] and my license due date. Simple
