Thanks for posting and details, FG and koch. I am excited for more details on the ultralight assault, very impressive at 8#. Is the construction material the same as in the escape and his other tubeless boats? Or is it 420 denier nylon or PVC bottom coated?
The closest thing until now has been the ultralight waterstrider, but it weighs 15#, too heavy for my use…

ok here is what i got when i wemnt in. there are apparently 3 models. the Assault, the Assault XX, and the soon to be released Ultrlite Assualt. the ultralite weighs 8lbs and fits into a day pack, its awesome i picked it up with one hand. the Assualt XX (if you look on northforkoutdoors.com) can come in either a 1 or 2 person model depending on what you want. the ultralite is only a 1 person, looks just like the regualr Assault, but is deep purple in color and the material it is built with even feels different but still tough

John, although he is saying it’s a 2013 model, it’s out now.
the 8’6" Assault is the 2012 model and it was out last year.
Don’t know why he does that except he did tell me that some of the models weren’t going to be released until that year but he had so many requests he bumped up the date.

Wow, Pat! I can’t believe you’re saying this, getting rid of your tubes? Too funny. BTW, it’s a great looking boat. I like the idea that you can run it with a motor going forward or reverse.

This boat, on the side, actually, any tube I would say to the side.
Right on, been waiting to see the bags, although I am totally set already. The bags I got with the Renegade have never been used. I just switch bags from boat to boat.
But for new comers, this is a great idea.
I purchased 2 of the bags a few weeks ago, one each for the two boats. The extra pockets help with tackle organization big time. If I ever license my boat the clear pocket will be handy for the boat numbers

Oh, I already have one, in my mind and wallet. I’ve emailed NFO three times now asking a couple basic questions, and how/when/where I can get one, and I get no response! (Sound familiar?) I’m 160 miles from Ogden, so I can’t just drop in. I may get down there once between now and Christmas, but I’ll give a report after my first float.
So, since I will still be in a new Assault pretty soon, The lightly-used Renegade is for sale! Its flawless and pretty clean. Hate to give it up, but can’t afford to hold two. $750 will take it.

I spent a good part of this morning talking to Dave. MAN these now boats are rocking the water world.
The XX was scheduled to come out next year, but during some water tests, pictures where taken and the word was out, so after being flooded with questions, NFO decided to go ahead and release it.
The XX makes boating a whole new experience. Easy for one person, but a tube/pontoon/raft that can easily be transformed to a two person and light enough to carry with ease.
Now, on the Ultra Light. This is still on the drawing board table so to speak. It will not be for everyone. The same idea as the Alpacka, but built in the same design as the Assault. Light weight, but thin skinned needs to be noted. If you look up the Alpacka site, you see more threads on patching them. Something to be aware of, not saying this happens to everyone.
The Ultra is not intended for hard core frequent fishing trips. Just a specialty tool for a special job.
Dave would prefer you call him first if you want to drop in and see the boats in person. It is a small shop and he would like to show you up close and personal what interest you. Or wait for one of the expos when he has several models set up.
In short what is the difference between the Renegade and the Rampage?

The Rampage is 10’6" same as the X5 but frameless and about half the weight. The Renegade is 9’ long (without a motor, no Invasive species sticker needed, but keep it clean…LOL)
The Frameless models scoot across the water better because they are lighter and the seat area is also inflated. The bigger the boat, the more floatation and more stable.
I have the 9’ and the 10’6". When hauling I notice a difference, but on the water, not so much.

thanks for the clarification… Id compare it to car dealers releasing the new years model in the last half of the current year.. but in this case he did a leap year kind go thing.. :-)… either way way out of my price range but great looking boats..
