Hey all. We’re heading out to Custer State Park next week and am interested in knowing a few good spots to fish. Also, tackle recommendations and all that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Thanks.
I lived in Spearfish for quite a while & fished that area some. I’d recommend an ultra light spinning outfit & #1 or #2 Mepps spinners for the streams. Toss upstream into the holes & crank just hard enough on the retrieve to get the spinner to spin. Start casting into the holes from the bottom & work progressively further upstream in the hole with successive casts. If you cast all the way to the top of the hole first off & bang a fish that will spook anything else in the hole. You might want to try Legion Lake, Stockade lake & Sylvan Lake. If you fish Sylvan, Jakes Spin-A-Lures work really well. For bait fishing, use a chunk of nightcrawler & a miniature marshmallow. Rig it on about a 2’ leader & put a slip sinker on your line then tie on a swivel & hook the leader to that. The marshmallow will float the worm up out of the weeds - deadly.
Good luck & have fun.
Thanks a bunch for the info. Not sure we’ll get to do a lot of fishing but might give Stockade and Sylvan a try.
