[fishin] im new to utah’s lakes. plan on doing a little trout fishing this thanksgivin weekend w/ my father coming from california. i heard utah has some great fishing just dont know where. please help me with my quest on trying to catch a lunk … i live in the slc area an dont mind drivin about 70 to 80 miles even more… just lookin for a prime spot to throw my pole… thanks anglers for any info…
Welcome. The Berry, Strawberry Res., is fishing great right now. I think that would be your best bet for big trout around SLC. There have been some good recent reports with details on tackle and areas to hit in the past few weeks.

I agree the Berry would be your best bet but is there a chance you could clearify what type of fishing you plan to be doing? There are different tips that people will give you depending on if your a bank tangler, A tuber, Boater. If you troll or cast… Plastics or bait?
If you give a bit more detail as to how you plan to fish I am sure you will get many more suggestions and tips.
But that is just my two cents
usually, on shore… live bait. nightcrawlers either from a bobber or sink um with air… not into the whole jig… prob should try it around here… but thats pretty much what ill be doing
