Hadn't been on Chick. in a couple of weeks, so I went today looking for crappie with a little bass prospecting mixed in. All the latter got me was a 3 lb. blue cat on a spinner bait. The crappie were very slow, the north wind certainly made it hard to detect strikes. I mostly used 1/16 oz. BG shads and fished docks, off-shore and vertical structure, steep rocky banks and a couple of blowdowns. I ended up with about a dozen crappie, a yellow bass and a couple of bluegills. The highlight of the day was catching my first TARP crappie this year, a 14.5 inch black crappie.

Hal motored up to say hello and took my picture with the TARP crappie. He also gave me a couple of 1/8 oz. lures to better fight the wind and current. He will post the pics. Thanks, Hal and I enjoyed our chat.

The current was 10K cfs and the surface temp was 79. All fish released.
