My 2012 Bear Hunt WITH VIDEO

After 3 years of baiting, running dogs, and looking around for days I finally have gotten my bear. It ended up being a REALLY old female with some sweet colors. She had dark brown, light brown, and some blonde to her. I haven’t had her officially scored yet, but I’m thinking she may go Boone & Crocket. She was BIG. Fish and game estimated that she was 20-25 years old. They couldn’t even get a tooth sample because she only had 2 1/2 teeth! I got a lot of video of the action. You can see the videos here:

Enjoy!

Cool good job!

Cool. What did she square?

I’m not sure what she scores yet. I took it the taxidermist and haven’t heard back yet..

You can square it yourself. Lay the hide out flat, measure the width of hide from the tip of 1 claw to the tip of the other claw. Then measure from the snout to the tip of the tail. Add the 2 measurements together and divide by 2. That’s the square. If it’s going to be close to making book, it will most certain square over 6 ft. The square measurement doesn’t really tell you anything about the skull (skull is where the B&C score will come from) but I’ve never heard of a bear under 6 ft making book, so it might tell you something and it’s interesting to know. It’s also a measurement that is easier to relate to.

Very cool!
