Hit the Riverpark around 7 this morning and made the long run to the bend. Slow, slow, slow. Got a few nice 2+ lb spots on towater with one going around 2.5-2.75 lbs, but only managed 12 spots down there in an hour and a half. I think the comerical fisherman netting down there have killed of a bunch of the larger spots. The bend has sucked all spring for us and usually this time of year even on bad days you can get 50+ spot easy.
Gave up and headed back up river. Wasted an hour or so before we found a bunch of active fish. Got on a good topwater bite around 10 and wore them out until 11:30. Had 2 keeper LM and lost another one at the boat. Fun, fun, fun. Had 75-100 blow ups but most of the fish would just slap at it, including numerous keeper size LM.
We ended our 4+ hours of fishing with 26 spots, 7 LM, 1 smallie, 14 google eyes, 4 redbreasts, 3 green sunfish and 2 blue cats. We caught half the bass in the last hour or so. Water temp was 71.5-72 degrees. 57 fish in just over 4 hours is not bad considering we did not catch much of anything until the trip was half over.
Taking the parents in the morning. Hope the topwater bite holds up for my dad.
