I have an old Minn Kota electric trolling motor. It has 5 speeds. 2nd gear doesn’t work. It goes the same speed as first. Then there is a significant jump when put in third gear. I have found 2nd gear to be one of the best trolling speeds. My question is,does anyone know if this is a simple repair that I could do myself? I have a little experience with electronics. Or is it the type of repair that I could take in to someone without paying an arm and a leg? If so, where would I take it? I live in Salt Lake.

Always a wealth of information you are. Anyone out there ever had tehsame problem and tried to fix one yourself?
If you can figure out how to open up the top I would see if you have worn or dirty contacts.
