MANTUA PANFISH?

have the pan fish come in shallow at manuta yet

Fished up there yesterday afternoon and threw, jigs, worms, tube jigs, and crankbaits at them with no luck. Didn’t see much catching going on. Friend of ours in another boat caught 1 small largemouth on a small jig.

I’m interested in knowing, too. From recent posts about bass, etc. I doubt it, but it’ll be any minute now.

Was there Fri. and fished the N.E. side for about 4 hrs.. Caught 1 LM. Walking the shore line, when the blues are in, you can see em along the shore line. Nada/nothing. I hope something bad hasn’t happened. [frown]

Probably close to being fished out.

No, I’m sure there are lots of 'gills and perch left in there, but that place has taken a hit over recent years. Bound to go downhill at some point, we shouldn’t be too surprised.

Those 'gills should be picking up here soon.

That’s what I kinf of was thinking. [frown]

I’ll agree. this year the bluegill fishing dropped way off towards the end of the ice season, as compared to last year when the catching was strong up to ice off. There is a reason that lake went from a small town at the beginning of the year to almost no fishing pressure mid January.
It’s not all bad though, just bad for this year. hopefully when they do come back, they will be huge.

I fished Mantua for several hours Friday morning 6/10, and I never saw a fish caught while I was there. We tried trolling for trout, worms under a bobber for bluegills, and bass lures along the banks and dikes without any hits. I thought at least we could get into something, but it was not to be. Blame it on the weather, moon, or whatever? Acey

Call me an optimist but i think that the Bluegill will show up when things get back to normall this year.
Every place that I have fished at this spring is a full month behind normal.
With the cold and wet spring that we had it will still be a few weeks before the Gills and even the Bass get active.

I don’t think that the spawns are even underway yet.
Mantua will be fine. Just give it a few more weeks.

I agree with KDStroutfitter…assuming the weather ever changes…this may be the year of no fish
!!!

I fished mantua all the way until ice off and caught bluegill all winter. Trout on the other hand were less frequent and smaller than last year. But I don’t like trout anyway.
