mantua ice

Drove by at 2:00 this afternoon and saw 6 people out on the ice. Don’t know about the ice conditions.

anyone have any up the day conditions for mantua? Thinking of one last ice trip up there tomorrow.

I fished on the east side today and the ice is still plenty thick. The edges are getting a bit soft though. We were able to get on still by using a plank that someone had left near the access point. Fishing was slower than it has been lately and it was a lot colder with the wind blowing. Good luck.

I went saturday. When I stepped on the plank, it cracked the ice, I jumped on it and the plank went down so I turned around and went home. A guy and 3 kids was just going on when I left. Best access is at the boat ramp. Forget the plank. There was a guy that launched a boat on the open water and exited on the lake when he hit the ice. Ice fishing is done for this lake this year.

Not for me lol. That plank was just fine it seemed…fished Sat. It was cold but the fishing was decent. The biggest lmb landed was 15". Plank or no plank…I will go into the water and climb onto the ice if necessary with the 4 millimeter neoprenes. The ice is a good solid 16 -20 " didn’t measure it at all. No slush but that could change with this huge snowstorm. This ice should squeeze out a few more trips for the obsessed folks.
