Would like to hit Mantua on Friday. Haven’t seen any recent posts. Wondering what the most current ice conditions were, if it is safe or if one should wait. Thanks for any update/advice.
Ice was 5" thick Wednesday evening.
It should still be good. Just use caution as always, when on the ice.
Anyone going to be at Mantua in the morning? If it’s a good 4" thick, that’s good enough for me. Plus, I won’t have the Geoff factor going against me this time! heheh
Hardy Har har, Derek. So how did you do out there Saturday at Mantua then? As crappy as last week, or better this time? Since there’s no report from ya I’m gonna guess that you did crappy? Hope you had a fun time at least.
Just got off work early and my shopping is done, so I think I’m gonna head up to pineview for a couple of hours, but my fishfinder’s battery has been in the trunk for a week now, so don’t think that will work. I"ll be fishing blind, but who cares. That’s better than not fishing 'tall!
Nope I haven’t been out fishing since the 15th, been having troubles with the car. Hopefully the shop can get it right this time, I’d like to try Mantua again on the 26th.
We fished Mantua this morning.[12-24-07]
We never found the perch in good numbers today.
Ice was great and we walked out to the middle with no problems.
Ice there was a little under 4" and 5" plus closer to the West shore.
We found a lot of very small perch but only about 12 keepers.
We caught as many trout as perch today.

My next ice fishing trip will be on Saturday at Strawberry.
I hope that either Chicken Creek East or the Marina will have safe ice then.
