Finally had some warm water fun with the Sparkinator in my tube. 
Nothing to brag about - “so to speak”, but fun for us., especially since I haven’t been able to connect on my smallies at the Pine. 
Fished for about 4 1/2 hrs. and caught 9 LM. Took me awhile to figure out and found em out from the point in deep water around bottom vegetation. Used my standard Quacamole Reaper, weedless. They ranged from about 10 + in. to a couple at 14 in. Kept enough for dinner.

Easy fella, just because someone posts that they ate bass doesn’t make them evil. I’m a bass fisherman myself but it is their right to keep them as long as it is legal. I would hate to see bass fisherman put in an elitest group such as fly fishermen [:p].

You can eat as many bass out of mantua as you want because there’s to many of them that are the same size, just leave the PV bass in the lake.
Well I thought fish were put in the waters to eat. bass, lakers, trout, salmon, heck, even carp[;)] Catch and release or catch and eat, what does it matter???

Good Report Leaky!!! And good on ya for keeping a few for the dinner table. Some people just dont understand that you do have to keep a few. Like Bass-Trackin said, take a few home, there are way too many in that lake around that size you were catching. If people would take a couple home each time than the bigger ones in there would flourish!!! I to have been tempted to take a couple home with me, but I dont like the texture of LMB, I do love me some SMB, but I think if I took some LMB home it would just end up in the garbage!!! Anyhow, this would be another good topic to talk about in a seperate thread, but anyway nice report again and I noticed there are a few people on the Idaho board asking questions about the Narrows and I havent gotten any word back from my “connections” up there. When I do I will let you know.

Keeping a few small fish is not bad for any type of fish but some of us BASS GUYS hope you will let the ones over 12" go free to grow bigger for more to enjoy…
Yea but the bigger ones are so much easier to fillet. [;)]
And…the bigger the fish we keep, the more snarky comments we get from the jealous and self righteous types.
That’s why I have not previously posted this picture of a fish I kept out of Mantua.
Ok, I was going to let this die a nuutral death, but ------------? I read Bassin_Blitz’s post as funning me. Was I wrong??? Personally, I think that debating the pros and cons of keeping a few for dinner not nearly as important to just enjoying the fishun experience and info. provided in the post. Anyway, let’s just enjoy the opportunity and reward of our sport, Ok?

Hey, ol’ buddy, if you wanna keep a couple of fish for the table, you go right ahead. And, you don’t need to worry about measuring them…except to keep it legal. Those of us who know you know that you carefully release a lot more fish than you keep. You pay for your license and other expenses, so you have the legal right to harvest a few fish now and then.
While you may have a great appreciation for all bass…and most other species…the bassaholics often take it a bit too far. They seemingly have the impression that the CREATOR put bass on earth for them and them alone. We mortals are not worthy to even fish for bass…much less to actually kill one. To them, bassin’ IS a religion. To harm a bass is heresy.

Except for a carp, I’ve eaten all 3 of the fish I’ve caught. Would’a kept the carp too, but my ex-husband is about as new to this as I am, and told me carp aren’t good for eating…and then, the minute I let it back, he’s all “Well, you can eat them, they’re just not very good”. Bah! Half the stuff he likes to eat, is stuff I don’t like!
So… I hope to catch another common carp, at least just to try it. My neighbor said his mother had a recipe for pickled carp, and it’s good that way.
Luckily, I don’t fish just for food, or I’d be starvin’ by now. It’s certainly for fun, too!

Well, -----------, if you can trust an old geezer, take it from me. Carp, ain’t bad, in fact I think it’s great and I prepare it like any other fish , so there. Trust your instincts and recognize invalid prejudices when you experience em! I learned how good they are when fishing for smallies at Flaming Gorge about 10-15 yrs. ago and had hooked a biggy and just didn’t want to through it up on the shore to rot and said “self” try it, Europe likes em. Ut. thinks white fish are trash, so give em a chance. I have just one rule, catch em from fresh water.[;)]

Yes all in good fun!! But I still hate the though of bass being eaten. Oh by the way mantua is a mere shell of its former self because of the hook and cookers so dont try to justify you crimes lol.

I want to try Bass still Leaky. I have a bunch of recipes that all sound good, but just have not ever caught any big enough to keep. My primary fishing buddy keeps trying to talk me out of it but I got to try it. So keep what you want you do not have to justify it to anyone.
A place like mantua has the potential to be a big bass fishery, but will likely never live up to its potential. I really wish that people will realize that small fish taste just as good as big fish. If you can’t get a decent fillet out of an 11 inch bass you shouldn’t be keeping fish to fillet anyways. You would just butcher a freaking big fish and most likely get less meat than I would off an 11 incher. Keep some suckers to practics you filleting skills on and you’ll realize that 11 inch bass make quite good fillets, very well porportioned. Mantua has a ton of smaller fish in it and not many big ones. I just fished it last week and caught 30 bass and not one went over 15 inches, sad. Let the big ones go for all to enjoy the battle of a big fish. Remember your camera to capture the memory. Keep the small ones for the table.

or
Catch a ton of small fish and the one decent one you may catch be able to keep it?
