I fished at Mantua from the shore this afternoon. The water level is the lowest that I have ever seen it. Fishing on the east side I landed 8 largemouth bass, all being between 10 to 12 inches in length. I also hooked a much larger one that I could not budge or slow down and it made a beeline for an underwater snag where it successfully hung me up. I wish that I could have at least caught a glimpse of that one. The wind cleared most of the surface moss off of the inner pond, and with the low water, it is easy to fish that small separate body of water now. On virtually every cast I either caught a small bluegill or had my piece of night crawler stripped from the hook. It is loaded with undersized fish and I could not catch one larger than seven inches. One note on fishing the main reservoir, all of the bass that I caught or lost took the bait within 20 feet from shore, which I’m guessing is about where the rocks transition into the mud.
Great report and pics, we sure haven’t received many from there this year. Even if the fish are small, at least you caught plenty of them. Would have loved to see that big one, that got away. It sure can give us hope that there are a few big ones in there.
I’ve been wanting to try Mantua for some bigger bluegills, but it looks like maybe I’ll wait for some ice. The bass fishing sounds fun. Great post!

Nice report . Same here would like to get my boat on there , is the boat ramp useable ?
Dubob made a post last week where he went there and found the lake is extremely low and the ramp is out of the water.

Good luck at EC, if you catch them, they will be nice ones, EC, has been slow lately but Echo would be another good choice.
