Mantua 4-25

bassrods, I must respectfully say with no desire for contention:

It is wrong trying to teach others how to keep our lakes in good fishing shape when it’s not your job, you are not qualified and real world evidence proves the opposite of your opinion. Qualified people who know what they are doing, people for which it is their job have set the rules.

What if you are wrong?

What if your advice about catch and release ends up having the opposite effect of what you are hoping for and makes the bass fishing worse for everyone?

Have you ever stoped to think of that.

hey Bassrods, I agree with you on this one, why keep a fat female bass full of eggs when you have plenty of rainbows to eat, what people need to understand is that just because it is your legal right to do something doesn’t make it right, buddy you should have let that bass go and taken a picture of it, I fish Mantua regularly and would have liked to have a chance at that one and I damn sure would have let it go, deleted

“Time after time after time these bass people get on here and complain about it” Hey! I take offense to that [;)]
Keep the small ones, release the big ones yada yada. That’s the way I roll but I do not push my opinions unless provoked…This guy and his daughter caught a nice bass, congratulations! Sure it would be nice to release it while butterflies and unicorns fly around while praising him for his ethics but I bet the experience for his daughter was even better knowing that she caught their dinner.
The whole ‘bass fisherman’ thing is just a…what’s the word I’m looking for…anywho, if somebody catches a bass and it’s within their legal right to keep it WHO CARES!!! They paid for their license to catch that fish. If there is a problem with the bass population the DNR will take care of it. It’s not a trophy bass fishery but for a little girl to catch a bass like that it puts a smile on my face. I am not a biologist, just a bass fisherman.
Sorry for the rant buddy, congratulations on the trout and the bass. Tell her that it’s bigger than any bass I’ve caught out of there.

danbnz: Who is being selfish? The little girl who caught a nice bass or the adult who is preaching to her about keeping it? I’m not looking for an argument and I apologize for hijacking this post but seriously, relax. This guy must think we are a bunch of a$$…s. It’s one bass, male or female it makes no difference. The people we should worry about are the people that DO NOT post all the big bass that they catch and keep. I understand where you are coming from but I’m pretty sure this little girl keeping a bass will not be the downfall of Mantua. Dudeman gave us the respect of posting a report and showing us pictures. Go after the poachers if you have a problem.

This is a prime example of why I don’t post my reports or pictures here any more.
People like bASS rods have ruined it for me.

what people need to understand is that just because it is your legal right to do something doesn’t make it right, buddy you should have let that bass go and taken a picture of it, I fish Mantua regularly and would have liked to have a chance at that one and I damn sure would have let it go, deleted

Why do you feel obligated to get on here and tell others what they should do? The law is all that matters not anything else - keeping a legal fish is my right and I intend to practice that right. We don’t care what you would have done with the bass if you caught it - nobody even asked you. I would have liked a chance to catch and eat that bass you don’t see me complaining because someone else caught it. I’m amazed at how selfish catch and release fisherman can be (certain fisherman). All they care about is themselves. They don’t like eating fish probably and can’t stand it when someone actually wants to eat one of their prized little pets. Good grief.
