My 12 yr. old and I fished Mantua for about an hour and a half was all. Got out there around noon and the breeze was cold. No matter, we were going to drill and chill.
We ended up icing 7 perch, and surprisingly no bluegills today. Two of the perch were nice and fat. TD’s specialties were the ticket. The ice was good…about 6" or so, with a think layer of slush in the middle. Not bad at all for quick getaway. And Nathan, we missed ya!
Good on you getting that kid of yours on the ice again. I remember last year when that largie almost pulled his pole in the water. Good job on the perch. Looks like it is almost time to make a trip up there to mantua. I think we are going to hit Causey this weekend.
I also just got back from Mantua. I fished it from 3 to 5 PM. I managed to land 2 rainbows and 3 perch. Missed a few other bites. They were sure biting softly today.
We got on the ice at about 1 this afternoon. There were 2 of us. Where were you fishing? We got out and set up the green QFIII about 100 yards from the outlet bldg. We must have missed each other. Kent showed up a while later or was already there and moved over by us.
We caught 3 bows and 13 perch. Only 5 keepers. I need to get out further next time. The wind picked up a little but a few gusts about ripped my tent off the ice. We left at 4:30.
I fished the same area you did. I fished in 18 1/2 and 14 feet of water. I did best in 14 feet. It was windy but nothing compared to the way it was on Scofield. Stopped by to say hi and check on the fishing at one ice tent and discovered it was lunkerhunter2.
I wish I would’ve known you were out there Brody! Missed both you and Kent!
My boy and I were probably fairly close to you. There were a few ice tents out there, probably about 4 of them. I was only about 100 yards east of the ramp. Looked like nobody really ventured out far. It was gusty for sure- we left around 1:30
Guess what? I was out there too and saw both lavaman and lunkerhunter. I wish I would have said hi. That quickfish III went up fast. I fished for about 4 hours and caught 8 bows, 7 perch, and 1 bass. Kept the perch for skillet and let the slimers go. Yes it was cold. Looking to hit Pineview on the 1st. Man it was good to be on the ice!
