I looked at the Hobie Mirage Pro Angler for it’s designed in and tested and proven practical fishing features that I can buy with confidence and figure out why it works well as I use it:
BUT, being me, I’m wanting to compromise all that for some additional features and attempt to add the fishing features and accept less than optimal fishing utility on this:
Yep, I want a fishing sailboat!
I don’t have any experience with any of the above, so input and suggestions are invited. I’d like to both sail and fish.

… with solar panels and lightweight lithium ion batteries to power it and recharge while fishing.
That’s the basic concept. I might build the boat myself. I bought a huge roll of Kevlar for that and other projects which would allow me to make it stronger and lighter and with custom features.
Maybe I should buy a sailboat like this and set it up for fishing:
My current boat is the Venture Outdoors pontoon boat:
ETD, I also had my maiden voyage on a kayak this week. Why didn’t anyone tell me there was so much greatness to behold? Okay maybe they did but I only wish I had listened sooner. I also went with the sit-in because it was cheap, it floats safely and I can fish from it. I don’t understand how one can definitively say which type of kayak works best for a specific person let alone an entire state. Just decide for yourself. Anyway, I was lucky enough to catch a few out in Provo Bay.
p.s. I caught the pig of a catfish on the same spinner bait as the largemouth. I’ve never had this happen before but it was a pleasant surprise.
