Lower Provo Fix

To kick the winter blues I thought I’d wander up the Lower Provo and try to sharpen some skills and hopefully catch some fish

I started with the fly rod and had some quick success on various nymphs [;)] I was pretty stoked cuz I am out of my element with the fly rod, but it was good practice. Most were super small fish, but there were a couple that wanted a picture.

Scuds were the winner today, but I had random success with Hare’s Ears and a WD40

Time to move down stream :sunglasses:

A couple days ago I made a pit stop below the Olmstead diversion and noticed the fish seemed way active for winter. I only had a few minutes, but managed this guy

I made a mental note to come back when I had time, and today was the day! I haven’t fished this section of the river much, but it was a welcome change. I tied on a discounted Rapala that I picked up at Walmart. I wasn’t expecting much, but was pleased with the results

I thought I’d push my luck a little more and put on my Pointer…my Lucky Lady Some of those fiesty browns just wouldn’t leave her alone

All in all I had a fun day. It wasn’t my dream trip, but it did do a good job of keeping the cabin fever at bay…can’t wait to pull the tube out again :sunglasses: Love ice and all, but sofwater is home for me…however, the provo is always a fun place close to home [:p]
