So I usually only ice fish Strawberry, Fish Lake and once in a while Yuba. Usually only go once or twice a year. Like it but time and etc.
This year I have decided to branch out a bit. Went to Rackport late today. Will go to Fish lake mid week next week. How about Lost Creek. Does anyone know if the ice is safe. Might try it on Monday.
Sorry so slow with a reply. I took my kids up to Lost Creek on the 22nd. it was wide open with patches of questionable ice. I was surprised since echo was iced over with 5 inches of ice. I ended taking teh kids to echo instead and got skunked. I don’t know if LC is iced over by now.
If you have a 4x4 then you can go to the launch ramp, we fished it about 2 or 3 weeks ago and the ice was fine. Head up that way, we caught some 5 pound cuts in that slot by the launch ramp this summer. We caught a few little guys when we fished it this month..
Yes, I forgot about the launch ramp. Funny story. A couple of years ago when I first got into ice fishing, I was rediculously addicted to it. I don’t have a 4X4, and no one to borrow one from for the day and time I wanted to go. So, I took my little '91 Honda Civic hatchback up to Lost Creek, and went to the launch ramp. I had little trouble getting in. . . Coming out was a whole other story. I got stuck half way up. Couldn’t move. No one with me. there were some other guys there in a truck, and when I went to ask them to pull me out, they pointed out that I coudl try backing up into the lot above the ramp and get some speed to try to get through. Luckily it worked, but it was pretty stupid of me to 1 - take the Honda , and 2 - go alone. Lesson learned. I think I caught about 8 or 10 nice fish that day though.
