Lost Creek Sept 5th & 6th

Fished lost creek on friday and saturday. Friday, Wiperslayer and I got there at 8am and started fishing around 8:30, fishing started off slow but we managed a few up to 16", nice cutts and a few bows. Then around 11am the catching turned on and we ended up boating 16, all were release to fight another date. We likely lost as many as we got to the boat. Water temp was 64*. RMT dogers and squid lures were the hot ticket, fished at 30’ with down riggers and lead core line. We were off the water by 1pm.
Saturday, I took a newbie out, at least to trolling. We got there about the same time and the catching was the same until 11:30am, then a switch was turned on and we ended up with 10 although I’m sure we lost a lot more because of the newbie’s lack of knowledge or my poor coaching[:/]. He wanted to keep some fish so we did and I’ll have to say they had nice pink meat. Anyway it was nice to try some where different, even if the fish were not the biggest. Here is some pictures, enjoy. WH2

Nice post and pictures. I was wondering how the fishing was up there, I haven’t been there for a long time. You drove right past my sisters house when you went up there, she lives in Croydon. Lost Creek canyon is where I bagged all my elk before my back problems.
Keep up the great posts

I’ve had better days at LC but the fish were smaller then. Some of these cutts and bows were carry over fish from last year and were starting to put some weight on. The biggest bow in the picture was very fat and close to 3 lbs. If you bagged a few elk around LC, your family must have land in the area. I know late season cow elk hunting can be good there and the upper end runs right up to Deseret.

We were up there trolling on Monday, and we found the same to be true. The later in the morning it became, the more the fish turned on.

Last year when I fished near the dam I couldn’t keep the chubs away from the lures. Any problems with the chubs on either of your recent trips?

My Sister has 30+ acres above the plant and they lease a ranch up above, but when I use to go up they ran a cow calf operation for the guy who use to own it.
That is where I use to stream fish, and got 11 bulls 1 cow out of 14 years. I was pretty blessed.
I have been up on the lower en of Deseret of few times.

We caught one chub trolling on Friday but none on Saturday. Another boat that was there on friday also caught a chub. One thing that I did notice, there were some huge school of some type of bait fish in the lake. We thought they could be chubs but I guess there is no way to know for sure. About the only other thing they could have been was suckers but I have never seen suckers that high in the water column[:/]. If they were chubs, I have never seen schools that big in lost creek before. WH2
