Looking for Hyrum Report

So it’s getting to be that time of year for my annual Hyrum Dam Veteran’s Day trip. Does anyone know if the ramp is in the water deep enough to launch a 18’ boat? Haven’t had the boat out all summer so I’m hoping it will still float… I’m assuming their will be enough bows in the pond to find a couple trolling… Anyone been out recently that can offer some tips? Thanks all.. J

Jeff,

There have been no Hyrum reports since May this year. I’m not at all sure why. Perhaps the power squadron has completely taken possession of the place.

There is still a floating dock in the water next to the ramp (web cam view), so I would guess the ramp still offers a launchable condition for your boat. The water level is low based on what I can see on the cams. The website says the ramp is open with an advisory (doesn’t say what that is), but you could just call the park office and ask for the latest launch status.

Good idea there Bob, I didn’t think about calling them… I know they aren’t manned full time, but seems like they come in mid morning for a little while… Thanks for the tip they should be able to tell me if I could launch… With the rain we’ve had, I know the level has bumped up some, but I don’t know if it was enough… There was a report a month or so ago that said you couldn’t launch, but we have had a lot of rain since, so I’m hoping things have improved… I’m hoping the power squadron has kept the fisherman down so there are still a few fish left there for the ice season… Are you chasing birds this year? Been hearing more shooting around my place than usual, especially on those rainy days… Almost got me to go give it a try… Later J

Man been trying to reach them all morning guess they aren’t in the office today…

Your not that far from them, you could try driving over there, just a thought.

The ramp was out of the water for awhile. As per the pictures on the Hyrum State Park facebook page it looks like the water has risenhigh enough to launch. Be careful, when the water was down there is a pretty good drop right at the edge of the ramp.

Just heard that you can launch, but be careful… J

Went today for the first time this year in Utah. Nada, Zip, Zero! I had a good trip to Canada for geese in September. Heading to Texas for geese & sandhill cranes in December and heading to Wyoming/Nebraska in January for ducks & geese. I gave up ice fishing last season.
