Lincoln Beach

Want to take a 6 year grandson out tomorrow and Lincoln Beach is close…Long trips (2 hour drives ) aren’t his style…Is ice okay and how do you fish for pan fish (how far off shore, how deep water and etc.)?

I think some others will chime in here, but usually small stuff like ice flies work best in colors like chart. Tipped with crawler. I would try in the harbor just a bit and see what I could come up with, then move to the areas around near the springs, just our from those. Like I said, others fish that area much more than I do and I have no idea whats going on down there, but those are general pointers for that area, happy fishing,I Look forward to the pics[fishin]

I haven’t checked the ice in a while. If it seems sketchy, I’d drill a hole right off the dock and fish from there. If the ice is solid then there will be an area that has been hit hard in the past, that should give you an idea where to go (Swiss cheese city). Use small jigs with no weight, tip with very small piece of worm or waxie. Good luck.

Thanks, back in the late 60s I fished the lower Provo for white bass 2 or 3 nights a week when the spring run was on. Would catch 30 or 40 a night. I filleted every one of those little suckers. My wife and I plus a son ate white bass frequently (we were students at BYU and the meat for the table was welcomed). I used a Mepps silver number 1 1/2 spinner and they cost $.79 each.

Every now and then a nice walleye or german brown would hit the spinner.

I don’t think I have caught a white bass since (we moved to Florida and then Texas before returning to Utah a few years ago) and while I have caught a lot of fish (104 species to date) since then, and some really nice ones, I remember no fishing with more pleasure.

So my little grandson wants me to take him fishing…and white bass seems little the right target…and I have never fished Lincoln Beach but it is near his home…so we’ll see what happens.

Thanks for the suggestions.

You might also try the inlet of the Spanish Fork River there by Sandy Beach. and do some open water fishing

thanks

Those bass are still all over those inlets, and usually simple stuff (like you stated) works best, silver shine!

Good luck

There’s no shortage of white bass, this was one of the best ice fishing seasons in several years for white bass this winter. Iced over two whites per minute in December. They are not going to migrate in large numbers till May, if you want to keep the kid happy with fast action. Lincoln is probably very slow right now, if you are very lucky there could be an eye or two in the traditional spots. I agree white bass are awwwsome fun for sure.
